He visited the local Guitar Center in New Orleans where he talked with musicians and announced the launch of the official Music Rising guitar which would go on to raise funds for the disaster relief fund.

U2 and Green Day Record “The Saints Are Coming” For The City of New Orleans
2006 – Preparing for the re-opening of the Louisianna Superdome after the horrific Hurricane Katrina disaster. U2 and Green Day performed “The Saints Are Coming” in a remarkable show of celebration for the city of New Orleans and as the half-time show for when the New Orleans Saints first played in the Superdome after the hurricane. Music Rising was there and both legendary bands performed to a sold out stadium. Here you see the performers in the studio recording the single right after the performance.

U2’s The Edge and Bono join the parade in New Orleans after its rebirth from the devastation from Hurricane Katrina. The legendary artists supported the city and its musicians with the founding of Music Rising, a disaster relief fund for music. This traditional parade featured performers and Mardi Gras celebrations throughout the city and also led to the re-opening of the Preservation Hall Jazz Club. New Orleans, Louisiana 2006

Bob Ezrin and U2’s The Edge lead Music Rising team members through the 9th Ward in New Orleans.
During the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina (2005) legendary producer Bob Ezrin (l) and U2’s The Edge led a team of Music Rising team members through the 9th Ward in New Orleans. Residents of that area spoke with the team giving them first-hand stories of survival and hope. The visit to the 9th Ward and the witnessing of pure devastation gave hope to Music Rising to help build and restore the spirit of music in the legendary city.
